Swedish Beers London needs YOU!

I had a lovely conversation earlier with my friends at The Nordic Bar to plot the next London edition of Swedish Beers. I'm a bit overdue a session on home turf having run successful parties in Barcelona and San Francisco earlier this year. So I've decided to crack and get it sorted sooner rather than later.

I have some potential dates available in the next 5 weeks but to make it happen, not only do I need you lovely lot to come along and join the fun, but I also need some lovely sponsors too to pay for the drinks and shenanigans. I already have one sponsor confirmed and am talking to another, but there's certainly room for two or three more to join the merry throng.

Who's up for being lead sponsor or a co-sponsor and help a couple of hundred mobilists mingle, chat and network?

Get in touch if that sounds like you and I can fill you in costs, how it works and the value you get for your money and support.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Swedish Beers is heading to San Francisco!

Well, it's been a while since my last trip Stateside but I'm pleased to be coming back to connect with US friends, old and new. To that end, I'm putting on a Swedish Beers party on Monday 2 May in San Francisco and would love to see you there.
If you have a passing interest in mobile technology, like to chew the mobile fat without any frills, formalities, sales pitches or death by PowerPoint, then Swedish Beers is for you!
Date: Monday 2 May 2016
Time:6.30pm onwards
Where: Central San Francisco
Please RSVP so we have an idea of how many of you are coming.

About our sponsors
James Tagg, the co-founder of Truphone will be joining us in San Francisco. Truphone is a global mobile network where there aren't roaming costs. Instead, there's one world plan to cover whichever country you're in, one SIM that never needs swapping and wherever you go, you get the same quality coverage as home, with the same customer support. With Truphone, you'll be roaming free. James is also the co-inventor of the LCD touchscreen (amongst other things) and is a published author and authority on Artificial Intelligence.

I'm on the lookout for additional sponsors to join Truphone to help the party go with a swing and a venue (I have a couple in mind, but welcome suggestions too) but I wanted to put the word out on the date so you can get it in your diaries and spread the word.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday 2nd May!

Swedish Beers was brilliant in Barcelona. Thank you!

A big thank you to everyone who came and chewed the mobile fat with us in February. Thank you to our sponsors, Gavin and his team at Voluum, Nextbit, aql, Vyke, Veoo, Inspiring Interns, Inspiring Search and Joshua PR. We couldn't have done it without their financial and moral support.

Thank you also to our photographers, Erika Arias, Naty Jamiez and Inspiring Search. And a thank you to Alex and his team at Dostrece who did us proud. They even wrote about us on their blog (it's in Spanish). Here are the photos on Flickr and the same set on Facebook - there are a lot this year. So if you haven't seen them already, enjoy!

I'm happy to announce...

..that the venue for Swedish Beers is confirmed - we're back in our old haunt of Dostrece. Find it behind the Ramblas and behind the Boqueria market. The nearest Metro station is Liceu.

I'm also happy to announce our first raft of sponsors.

Our lead sponsor is Voluum - The Voluum team are very excited to be showcasing their newest product, VoluumDSP, at MWC this year.  With a focus on usability, deep analytics, anti-fraud and generally making the execution of mobile programmatic campaigns less painful, it’s definitely worth grabbing Gavin, Robert or one of their team to find out more. They're experienced mobile marketers themselves, they know the challenges both advertisers and publishers face and really know how this stuff works. Gavin is also a Swedish Beers veteran so can show you the Swedish Beers ropes too!  @voluumdsp

Next up is Nextbit! They have a new phone to show off called Robin. And it looks very interesting indeed. A game-changer in Android devices? I think it might just be. You decide when you meet the team on the 24th February!

I'm delighted to welcome back aql for the umpteenth time. aql Founder and CEO, Dr Adam Beaumont, will be with us once more for chat and jollity and to talk hosting, messaging, telecoms, innovation and why Leeds is the centre of the internet universe. No really, it is! Welcome back aql!

Further sponsor announcements shortly. It's not too late to get involved. Get in touch with me if you're interested in sponsoring this or other Swedish Beers events.

Swedish Beers is heading to Barcelona once more on 24 February!

Oh, how time flies and it's the time of year when mobilists around the world turn their thoughts to the annual gathering of the great and the good of the mobile world at Mobile World Congress at the end of February. And this year is no different. As usual, I'm running the Heroes of the Mobile Fringe Festival for the fifth time and I'm running the annual Swedish Beers party in Barcelona for the 11th time.

Like our previous events, this is a relaxed evening for execs working in and around the mobile industry. You'll find no formalities, no presentations, no speeches. Just come with an open mind, be prepared to see friends old and new, chat, enjoy a drink or three (courtesy of our sponsors) and have yourself a good time. Oh, and leave the ties, the corporate personas and the sales spiel at the door please. The Swedish Beers crew will be on hand to welcome you as will the friendliest bar staff in town.

Please RSVP to give me an idea on who's coming and I'll do my best to accommodate as many of you as possible.

It is likely to get a bit busy at times. But don't worry, people will be coming in and out all evening. If it's very busy, there's no need to queue to get in, we'll have a second bar nearby for you to hang out in which will be just as good and where there will be plenty of people for you to network with. This does mean that I can't guarantee entry except for sponsors and the Swedish Beers Crew.

I'll have some sponsor and venue announcements soon, but in the meantime, if you're at all interested in joining the fun and buying some fellow mobilists a beer or two, please get in touch with me. I have sponsorship options for all budgets so don't be shy!

In the meantime, please RSVP below and spread the word to your colleagues and clients.

See you in Barcelona.
